A GREAT SEASON: MAX STARKS

From being released on July 28, 2011 then returning due to early injuries, Starks was the only Steelers offensive lineman to start all 16 games.

With teammates going down all around he was the only member of the line to play the same position all season and, along with Maurkice Pouncey, anchored the line and gave it the stability it needed.

In his 8-year career with the Steelers he has never been flashy and some have even  criticized his desire and motivation. It's true that he's probably too "nice" a person to be an offensive lineman, a position where a touch of "nastiness" can't hurt.

From his rookie year he's always been a favorite and I was glad to see him be given the chance to redeem himself and perform so capably throughout a long difficult season that included more successes than failures.

Thanks, Max. I hope to see you next year.
