PENGUINS-FLYERS: GAME 5

Letang clobbers Timmonen
Not much to say except gotta keep winning, baby. Here's my analysis for Game 5.

1. Penguins get James Neal and Craig Adams back. Neal must start scoring TONIGHT. Adams will help the PK.

2. Did the defense (and Fleury) improve in Game 4 or did the wheels just come off (hopefully not temporarily) for the Flyers? Let's cross our fingers it's the former.

3. Home ice will be HUGE. After crushing the Flyers in Game 4 the crowd should be pumped. HOWEVER, as I pointed out in at least my last blog, the Flyers will hopefully score first. Once again, the Penguins have lost the last five games to the Flyers in which they took at least a 1-0 lead. The Flyers scored first in Game 4.

4.  Although Malkin broke out of his scoring slump in Game 4 he must continue to produce. The Penguins must be firing on all cylinders from now to the end. Whenever that may be.

5. This is the highest scoring NHL playoff series ever through the first four games (45 total goals).

     Penguins-Flyers (2012) - 45 goals

     Blackwahks-Oilers (1985) - 44

     Oilers-Kings (1987) - 43

     Bruins-Kings (1977) - 43

     Blackhawks-North Stars (1985) - 42

6. The Penguins need SHOTS ON GOAL, forty or more. Both Flyer goaltenders have played poorly, particularly  Bryzgalov  who has given up 24 goals already. Plus passing across the goalmouth and having people around the crease for rebounds will be important for the Pens who ate Bryzgalov up on these.

7. Faceoffs will be critical. especially in the Penguin's zone.

8. The Pens must stay out of the penalty box. The Flyers are blitzing them on the PP.

9. Crosby needs to stay focused as he was in Game 4. No more trying to play tough guy. Let Engelland do that.

10. Are the Penguins now in the FLYERS' heads? Could be, but if not totally, as long as they're in Bryzgolov's head that will work out fine.

11. Maybe someone will throw a little DEFENSE into the mix tonight (38 goals have been scored in just the last three games). Whoever it is will win.
