Hines, this is how we'll remember you best. That huge smile, particularly after throwing a crushing block or taking a big hit but still holding on to a pass. I reported the retirement to my daughter and commented that 14 years is a long time but it goes by so fast.
The memories: One Super Bowl XL TD catch (and an MVP award),
a big catch early in SB XLIII (before having to leave due to an injury sustained in the AFC Championship game and another TD in SB XLV in a losing effort.
A total of 1,000 career catches (a Steelers record and tied for 9th all-time in the NFL), over 12,000 yards receiving (a Steelers record) with 85 TDs (second to Franco Harris's Steelers record).
Hines was the "spirit" of the Steelers for years. That position will have to be taken by someone else. That someone should be Troy Polamalu.
